Daily Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive Colombo Airport – Negombo Beach Resort

  • Arrive in the evening at Colombo International airport
  • Taxi meet| greet, transfer to town of Negombo, a laid back village, and a great place to start your journey around Sri Lanka

Day 2 – Negombo

  • Wake up to the sounds of the Indian ocean lapping at your door
  • Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and resort facilities, including indulging in a traditional Sri Lankan Ayurvedic massage
  • Afternoon take a stroll around the local village markets and marvel at the handicrafts

Days 3/4 – Dambulla |Sigiriya Rock | Polonnaruwa Cultural District

  • After breakfast depart north to Sri Lanka’s cultural capital in the Polonnaruwa district
  • On arrival in the town of Dambulla, enjoy lunch at a traditional Sri Lankan restaurant before checking into the resort, rest of day relax
  • Check into a beautiful  Eco Resort and Relax, with its selection of restaurants and activities including canoeing on the lake and array of Ayurvedic treatments
  • Next day sightseeing, including a visit & climb up the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress. A world heritage site, ‘Lion Rock’ is a citadel of natural beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle

Day 5 – Madulkelle Tea & Eco Lodge

  • Breakfast at resort, then depart to the beautiful hill and tea district of Madulkelle enroute we visit the ancient Dambulla Rock Temples, donated by King Walagambahu in the 1st century BC to Buddhist monks
  • Arrive at Madukelle Resort in time for beautiful sunset dinner overlooking the tea plantations and mountains

Day 6 – Madulkelle Tea & Eco Lodge

  • After breakfast, enjoy a morning tea tour, learn and experience the harvest, production and brewing of a fine cup of Ceylon tea
  • After lunch prepare for a trekking with bird watching experience, amongst the local hill country life, dotted with Hindu Temples

Days 7/8 – Kandy – Hill Station

  • Depart Madulkelle to hill station of Kandy the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings
  • Check into your hotel, relax and lunch
  • Afternoon wander around Kandy Lake, built by Sinhala King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798
  • Also visit the Kandy town and Bazaar, the arts & crafts center and a gem museum
  • In the evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and witness a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing

Days 9 – Nanu Oya | Nuwara Eilya – Hill Resort

  • Transfer to Kandy Railway Station to board the Observation train leaving for Nanu Oya
  • This dramatic train ride will give you chance of viewing some of the magnificent sites of Sri Lanka, stunning waterfalls, breathtaking views, and long winding tunnels
  • On arrival at the Nanu Oya Railway Station, taxi pickup and continue to Nuwara Eliya, which is Sri Lanka’s premier hill resort

Day 10 – Uda Walawa National Park Elephant Safari

  • After breakfast depart Kandy for drive to Udawalawae National Park
  • Check into resort, lunch and evening sunset safari in the national park, with approx. 500 herds of elephants, wild buffalo, sambar deer and leopards, makes this Sri Lankan park a rival to the savannah reserves of Africa and is certainly the one park not to be missed!

Day 11 – Galle Fort

  • After breakfast check out of Uda Walawa Resort and visit the Elephant Orphanage and witness the morning feeding of the baby elephants followed by a very interesting museum
  • Continue south to the coastal Galla District
  • Galle Fort, in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century

Day 12 – Galle Fort

  • After breakfast, local sightseeing and shopping in and around Galle Fort
  • Choose from of the many wonderful restaurants on offer as well as art galleries

Day 13 – Colombo

  • After breakfast transfer to the capital Colombo and check into hotel
  • Proceed on a sightseeing tour of Colombo, and enjoy exploring the old world charm of this port city
  • Visit a 100-year-old clock tower and several British built colonial buildings
  • Other places of interest are the Pettah bazaa, beautiful Hindu and Buddhist temples
  • Also the popular shopping spots of Barefoot, Odel, Paradise Road, Cotton Collection

Day 14 – Colombo

  • Enjoy final shopping sightseeing and relaxing in Colombo
  • Late check of hotel for evening departure to Colombo International airport/flight back to Australia
